Yesterday, June 2nd, Israeli occupation forces (IOF) killed the Palestinian child Yousef Fuad Abdel Karim Fuqahaa (14). He was shot in the village of Sinjil in the West Bank, occupied Palestine, in a brutal attack on an unarmed child. The IOF are still withholding his body. Fuqahaa was fasting while being killed, as these are the sacred days of Dhul-Hijjah before Eid al-Adha this week. 

Muhammad Olwan, a resident of Sinjil and coordinator for the Palestinian Farmers Union (PFU) wrote to Kollektivist yesterday: 

“The village of Sinjil, along with all local institutions and residents, mourns the loss of this innocent boy and strongly condemns the ongoing policy of collective punishment practiced by the occupation forces.

The deliberate killing of children, followed by the inhumane withholding of their bodies, reflects a systematic attempt to terrorize Palestinian communities and suppress their resilience.”

Sinjil is surrounded by Israelis illegally occupying Palestinian land, in settlements (small colonies on stolen land). They are constantly terrorizing the residents in Sinjil and are stealing land from Palestinian farmers. The Israelis are under protection of the occupation forces, who often protect them while carrying out the attacks.

Journalist Mohammad Ghafri, who lives in Sinjil, told Anadolu Agency that the boy was killed near the northern entrance of the village when he was shot by the IOF. 

“The army shot the child, stripped him of his clothes, and left him bleeding for some time before an army ambulance arrived and took him away,” he told the news agency.

Muhammad Olwan also told Kollektivist that: 

“This latest crime is part of a broader pattern of escalating violations against Palestinian civilians, especially children. The people of Sinjil remain united in their sorrow and steadfast in their demand for justice.”

On March 6th, 14-year old Palestinian Omar Mohammed Rabea was killed by the Israeli Occupation Forces in Sinjil’s neighbouring village of Turmus Aya. Two other Palestinian teenagers were injured.

In June 2023, the village was attacked by 400 settlers. Omar Qattin (27), a Palestinian father of two, was killed as hundreds of Israeli settlers stormed the area and set fire to dozens of cars and homes.
